My venerable LaCrosse 2305 has been working great for the last 7 years,
but it died at 13:10 today. I'm looking for a replacement, I see the
2355 is freely available. Big difference for me is that it's USB, not
serial and I don't know if it'll work with linux.

Does anyone have any recommendations? The iROX Pro X2 looks nice, but
it's a bit pricey!

Cheers,

Steve

Lacrosse 2355 works great using Wview under Linux.

Mines been running for three years now without any hassles.

Wview (http://www.wviewweather.com) is tailored towards Ubuntu but I've
had no hassles building it for Mandriva/Mageia

Thanks for that John,

i've been using open2300 ( after I fixed a few database problems! ),
storing locally, and feeding to wu an cw.

Good to know I can stick with the environment I already know!

Cheers,

Steve

You may want to look at http://www.hobby-boards.com/catalog/main_page.phptheir 1-wire stuff is great for those that want to get a good weather system
that you can build on as you go

Looks interesting. I especially like the idea of a lightning board -
check melted or not???

I'm pleased to say that the weather station is back in the land of the
living. It looks like the wall wart got fried/detected lightning/passed
away at some point, and the batteries had just run out. Old faithful is
back in the land of the living. A good advert got LaCrosse products -
it's only consumer grade after all!

Cheers,

Steve
