Temperature/humidity USB data loggers

Hi,

I'm looking for a USB temperature/humidity data logger (doesn't have to
be autonomous in fact is meant to be connected to the USB all the time)
that is compatible with Linux. I've come across the Extech RHT10
(Windows only software). Amazon offers the TEMPer USB Thermometer that
apparently is easy to interface. I'm looking for something that can do
humidity too.

Any ideas?

Jan

That'd be more work than I plan to put into it....

This might be more than you require but I use these and they work well. Put
an ip into the device and it is then available anywhere on your network. It
has its own web page or you can use snmp to extract what you want

469 Americans plus swimming/flying cost. Ouch.

You can not beat this sensor for accuracy and ease-of-use:
http://nicegear.co.nz/sensors/sht15-temperature-humidity-sensor/

Add Arduino and Ethernet shield. Total under 200.

If you want a dust cap for the sensor go shopping at nz.element14.com.

I have this running as basis of a home automation system. Works well. It
outputs a bunch of sensor readings as CSV each time I care to http it.
cron takes care of it for me.

If you move it around take care to provide ESD protection. The sensor
will not like getting zapped.

we use Testo [1] temperature sensors at work (airconditioning), and the
engineers are impressed with them - they're pretty tough, and accurate
and precise (no parameters to that though). they are autonomous, and
might sit in a duct for days or weeks at a time. from what i recall,
they present a serial device to the computer, so should be ok with
linux. i'll plug one into an ubuntu machine this week if you would like
me to test one?

Thanks for the offer... but I found what I was looking for.

The TEMPerHUM costs less than NZ$30, plugs into a USB port. Reading it
from Linux is easy, see output from my (very simple) script below.
