I notice that you say you are using an Openmoko phone with Debian 6. I have
one too, but I gave up on it about a year ago. How much effort is it to put
Debian 6 on it and is it worth it (reliability, phone functions, battery
life...) ?

no problem at all - to install, there's a tarball or you can flash it
with dfu-util. i actually run qtmoko [1], which is a qt-based
framebuffer OS originally from trolltech (so no x windows unless you do
some ugly hacks), on top of debian. i said it was debian for extra geek
points

i've been meaning to set up a dual environment, so i can switch between
debian + x, and debian + qtmoko, but doing the runlevel thing looks too
hard at the moment and time is lacking

qtmoko is pretty good, it's probably the most-used distro on the phone
and there are lots of applications being developed for it [2]

battery life is the same as the other distros - the phone hardware is
fundamentally flawed, so 2 days is about it. i'm not sure how that
compares to the latest run-your-whole-life device from the googlenet or
the control freaks at cupertino

[2] http://qtmoko.sourceforge.net/apps/

reliability-wise, it's being actively developed, bugs are fixed quickly
so it's very stable. the only thing i know of that's a problem is it
needs a reboot after leaving airplane mode

About 1 day if you use it regularly during that time. A few days if you hardly
touch it. Nothing too great, I take my old Nokia if I'll be without power for
a while. It gets 5-7 days, and there's nothing to do on it, so I'm not using
it all the time :)
