Today I read how the Army have been asked to put together a robot to
go into the Mine to search for survivors.

I realise that short of having something ready to roll right now there
is little we can do to help. However, the Christchurch earthuake and
now this mine accident focus my attention on a lack of robotic tools
for this kind of mission. Having been involved in robotic for the last
few years I thought it might be worthwhile building rescue robots that
can go into dangerous environments with explosive gases in a safe way.

Is anyone else doing robots projects?

VUW has been researching robotics for earthquake response for a feq
years[1].
